there are various texts around that deal with this issue, though i've found i actually take better to the kind of advice they offer when i am already feeling inspired and productive. i've found, in general, that going to a performance, film, exhibition or something that is completely different to the kind of work i do can be incredibly thought provoking, and even if i don't enjoy it i always come away with fresh ideas. the other thing i have been doing recently is reading about other artists' processes (particularly visual artists). in particular i have been reading (and re-reading, always a good sign) 'art without compromise', by wendy richmond. seeing how another artist approaches process, technology, collaboration and the ever-challenging issues surrounding originality and creativity provides (for me) much food for thought...
