Or maybe it's just that I'm not a drummer/percussionist... Mark learn simple skills on other instruments..........not mastering the instrument, but musically useful skills. I said in an article on live looping in DRUM magazine, "I don't know a single live looping drummer who hasn't become a multi-instrumentalist." For what it's worth, Mark, I'm setting up my studio so that I can teach drum/percussion/rhythm theory lessons on SKYPE to melodic musicians who don't live in my area. It is quite easy to develop some finger/hand or stick skills and a very, very simple holistic understanding of world music theory that allows one to make one's loops more sophisticated in real time. Rhythm..........the next frontier! ....and cool loop, by the way! warmly, Rick |
