OT: is really OT: Cigarette
This is really lovely Petri, though Its been a while since i
experienced a period of time when I felt like I needed to stop looping
and start writing and playing without loops, I understand the feeling
and may I offer this. If i were a singer songwriter guitar player, I
would do much less multi-tasking than I do now and i doubt I'd do more
than create a bit of guit-box groove and perhaps a bridge or solo
section change that I could undo, or minimal ostinato note or two
that works against all of the chords and leave it at that. You might
check out the great Joseph Arthur playing solo on Youtube for
inspiration in this regard., though I think he is doing more
sophisticated things than what i described above these days, probably
on a lap top :-). The other thing is perhaps you may be more of a
hardware guy , some of us still are:-). Any of the techniques i
described above can be done on the most basic of loopers. I've been
teaching guitar for many years and I can say without question that if
you are a life long student of the guitar, as I am, a basic looper is
your practice pal, your song writing partner, and your rhythmic butt
kicker all in one, it doesn't have to be a glowing screen with endless
possibilities.
good luck and stay in touch
