Re: Keep your sets interesting - reprise
Look in it any context you want - my point was
to compare this one to a "set" - it is brilliant and it was built,
like you said, from shorter pieces, like a set.
Drumming for drummers, I am not a drummer and I enjoyed it enormously. :-)
It really is necessary sometimes to challenge oneself
and try to hear the tonal qualities in instruments that are
more unfamiliar. I dont play drums myself, but I have
been interested and listened to drummers, watch videos like this,
for 20 odd years.
Thanks again for widening my knowledge on all things Joey Baron!

Petri,
I presume this is a 40 min drum solo post.
Back in the early seventies, length of drum solo
was a gauge of brilliance.
Imagine the suffering.
I enjoyed the Baron clip, which was actually a selection of shorter pieces. ...but I play drums sometimes, that adds to the interest a lot.
I got the impression that the clip was intentionally
"drumming for drummers", and wouldn't want to criticise it
for that.

Andy, yes challenge to listener and performer, was my question.
But in case of Joey Baron, I could watch 3 hours of him playing,
and if I had some drinks and food near me, 8 hours if challenged :-D
He's just fabulous drummer and so inspiring to watch.
