Further seconded!  Just play, it’ll come.  People who like it will like it.  People who don’t, don’t... but I wouldn’t say that’s forever.  Some music has to grow on people – and folks who tell you they didn’t care for something may come up to you and say much better things later.  But don’t let it affect what you want to do.

I agree with Jeff. I feel that the more you try to please imagined expectations of your audience, the more compromised and untrue your music becomes. 
Unselfconscious creation though is a very slippery eel..
