The stuff here http://moinlabs.bandcamp.com/album/weird-specialist was done on an old Pentium M (2GHz) and 1GB of RAM. My current €300 netbook outperforms that machine of old...of course, it was Live 4 or 5 running back then, and plugins selected to be CPU/memory efficient...The question is simply... IF he has has an external sound card (I think its a NI AudioControl 1)...AND he is using external disks for (therofore not needing a really HUGE hd)... What is the minimum spec PC I would need to go for for a lap-top for pretty standard Abelton Live use. (By that I mean playing loops, synths and effects... but not too much recording of live instruments I imagine)I guerss Im talking memory AND CPU?
So as usual: "using ableton live" is rather wide a field. But if you know how to optimize a setup for performance, are able to play with high latencies and don't believe you need the latest gimmick for everything to make art, then really, you don't need that much power. DPC latency however, that is what you need to be looking at, as that can be a showstopper...
