Re: Octotrack... Still a mystery...

Actually only for iOS now.. (because of the extensive coreMIDI and coreAudio libraries: iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad with iOS5 or greater).
I needed a pocketable looper, with that hardware feel, and as I never really found one to fit my needs (the Electrix Repeater got the closest), and so after many years I decided to develop one (it's actually audiophile and coder Stéphane Tavera who does the 'engine' part...).
But it's no OT, yet!

Following the OT discussion, very interesting, thought I'm not a big fan of that machine, I'm open to changing my mind.
I definitely am part of those who like the 'hardware' fell of looping instruments. That's what we're trying to develop in our small software app Loopr (http://loopr.net).
I like to play with something that really feedbacks well, with fast and solid response rather than complex, obscure, menu-oriented, computer-specialist-like apps..
If some of you want to try, ask me for a promo code for the iOS app. I still have 5 for this version if some of you want to try the thing. It's only a v1, so the options are still quite limited, but as I use it as my main tool, it's definitely going towards something chunkier with the updates.
And looking forwards to more of that OT stuff!!!!
Cheers,
:)

I must say, the "feel" of what your using is important if you ain't programming. That's one thing that kinda sucks about using PC's or Mac's. Yes, they are powerful and limitless, but nothing compares to the feel of hardware.

My music is amde by walking into my stdio and starting to play the guitar... I find and tweak patches as I go along, I loop bits, process bits and loop some more... then The kid comes in and asks me to play PlayStation with him, and I turn it all off... Or... I turn up at the cafe with my gear, my drummer turns up and we play... I dont have time for "programming" But want beats and drum-machine...
