Re: mixing & mastering

When I work in solo, I usually use a preset setting, and tighten it up with some kind of multiband comp/limiting before amplification. As for the real-time effects, I usually improvise with non computer based real-time modulators (e.g. Lexicon Vortex) so that doesn't let me rework the settings afterwords. I try as much as possible to record the multiband comp/limiter stereo (or surround) stream, the non comp stream, and some kind of 'ambiance' miked sound from stage room. With these in hands I can then mix a 'live' master for further distribution.
But more commonly I try to partner with a live engineer/composer, that reworks the sound live (including the raw loop data), but always try to record the same streams as before in any case.
Cheers,
Z

Hey y'all,

I was wondering how you go about mixing & mastering your live performances?

I'm new to the world of live looping and I come from a hip-hop background using FL Studio. I usually do my best to get the sound I want as I compose & then go back later a make any adjustments before mastering.

I've seen some live looping rigs that have effects like reverb & stereo phaser - is having the right settings something that is pre-meditated or do you just sculpt as you go and whatever the result is, remains?

I hope that makes sense loll
