For you sitters, the constant hunching over the guitar isn’t any better, either.
the alternative Shifting the guitar to the left, so that the recess sits on the left thigh rather than the right (other way round for left handers of course) and angling the neck upwards brings you more into the ergonomically better "classical" position. Then keeping the elbow close to your side and the thumb on the back of the neck you'll instantly have improved stretch without effort. Similar with standing, position the guitar/bass so that the headstock is at eye level if you want an extra 2 frets of stretch ( or to get the same stretch without tension). andy
