giving the connections a good cleaning has taken care of that on my cables.

But like all cables are susceptible to damage of various kinds from being stepped on or pinched under heavy equipment etc.

Try a different cable.

If that changes nothing it may be a socket or some other point in the chain.

Normally they area as quiet as most other cables.
