No. You have to chose one or the other. Either you loop each
instrument/ Ableton track on a mobius track of its own or you layer
instruments/Ableton tracks in loops. I wouldn't say it is "better" but
I prefer the second approach. My reason is that it IMO makes it
easier to do a good performance because you can optimize the number of
processes to handle (we only have two hands with five fingers each...
in a performance like live looping and live mixing it is no help with
a lot of options if you can't make use of them fast enough to put on
an interesting show). I prefer to do "extreme remixing" in Mobius
because when you have a lot of instruments summed in one stereo loop
you can totally mangle it and always step back along the Undo/Redo
history. This is the same performance approach that Richie Hawtin
subscribes to, but he uses that Max 4 Live patch called Kapture that
memorizes every damn knob setting in Live for instant recall
("Undo/Redo history"). I like Mobius instead because it is snappy
while Kapture in Live adds more latency to your control commands the
more parameters you are targeting. But if "more control to any cost"
is your goal, I'd suggest you look up Kapture.
