. 9:00 . THE COSMIC ORGY . THE COSMIC ORGY paint and colour
with Ecuadorean rhythms from the Amazon, Andes and Pacific
coast using traditional instrument samples, field recordings and
sound design with Glitch,Drum and Bass, free improv and
controllerism. David West uses a custom double sided
convertible 7 string fretted/fretless midi-guitar,
laptop/controllers and Mark Hundevad electronic
drums and percussion. THE COSMIC ORGY is a tribute
to the cosmic wealth of Ecuador from the beyond.
. 10:00 . THE BODY IN QUESTION . The Body In Question plays
experimental electronic music. Our influences include Zoviet
France, Nurse With Wound, Cul De Sac, Tod Dockstaeder,
Lorde Awesome, Miles Davis (especially the Bitches Brew years),
Black Dice, Kieren Hebden and Steve Reid to name just a few.
We are interested in what Damo Suzuki calls spontaneous
composition but also don't mind digging in for a fierce chaotic
improvisational jam from time to time. Some of the pieces you
hear were created in the moment, usually live in the studio,
while others were crafted over time using layers of overdubbing.
Always, at the core of what we do, is the spirit of exploration
and experimentation. The Body In Question is:
Charles Hackbarth on synthesizer, guitar, sampler and
various electronic gizmos; Marc Cohen on drums and
keyboards; Eric Laimer on guitar; Jim Taylor on bass;
special guest vocalist Sue Hutton from Rhea's Obsession.

This 10 minute piece reminded me of cruising along in the
High Occupancy Vehicle lane on our trip to Hamilton when
dreamSTATE and Heiki played "New Harbours" last year. An
ominous torrential spring storm loomed out one window just
beyond all the other cars with only one-on-board in the LOV
lanes bogged down in the muck of rush hour traffic.
Warning: Tech talk for all you studio, synth and sequencer geeks
out there. As usual, this piece began in Bidule with a bunch of
soft step sequencers (Era, Energy XT and Jamstix) running a batch
of new and vintage soft synths (Moog Modular V, Bassline 101,
UNO LX, Ultra Analog VA-1, String Studio VS-1, Absynth,
Vaz Modular, Jamstix and Attack) into some virtual efx
(Shimmer, Pink and Wizooverb.) Recorded in Bidule,
mixed and mastered in Reaper with Alloy, RX and Ozone.
This is the second in a series of URM studio explorations to be
released to the PiNG LiST in 2014. Get them while you can as
a fresh piece will be uploaded for next month's PiNG.
Don't worry if you miss any of them as they will later be
collected together into an LP which will also include 5.1
surround sound versions.
