. HEIKI . Heiki (Hey-Key) is a veteran of the Toronto electronic
music scene. Since 1987, Heiki Sillaste has released an impressive
catalogue of well over 45 synthesizer-based records and made over
150 compilation appearances. Heiki, a Paper + Sound artist who
also performs and records with Kinder Atom and Digital Poodle
returns to the PiNG to perform a solo ambient dub set from
his new album, Dub Museum.
. JAKOB THIESEN . This Toronto based musician and sound
designer has been exploring electronic and acoustic sound
for over 10 years. Jakob's love for film is apparent in all his
works, his numerous independent music releases and his film
and television sound design for filmmakers have all focused on
the malleability of sound and the emotional and cerebral impacts
that entail. Jakob's recent LP Simpleprisms has been holding
down the #1 spot on SomaFM's Top 30 Drone Zone Albums
since the middle of May.

Warring weather, weather warning or singing synthesizers? All of
the above it seems as I received some emails with links to videos
this month of the not so quiet war being waged with weapons
of weather when along came a beta of Imitone which allows you
to control synths with your voice.
So this piece was recorded with no hands, voice control only, as
the synths followed the pitch and dynamics of what ever I fed
into the microphone.
Warning: Tech talk for all you studio, synth and sequencer geeks
out there. As usual, this piece began in Bidule with a batch of
soft synths (4 Absynths, 2 Vaz Modulars and 1 Wavestation)
which were being sent MIDI information that Imitone had
extracted from my humming into an old stereo Sony mic.
Recorded in Bidule, mixed, edited and mastered in Reaper
with Alloy, RX and Ozone with a bit of added Lexicon reverb
thrown in for good measure.
This is the third in a series of URM studio explorations to be
released to the PiNG LiST in 2014. Get them while you can as
a fresh piece will be uploaded soon. Don't worry if you miss
any of them as they will later be collected together into an LP
which will also include 5.1 surround sound versions.
