I second the notion that it is an impedance problem,  if your guitar 
pickups are passive, they are high impedance, the synth engine most likely 
low impedance. Is this the blue Roland guitar you are talking about? I'd 
run the guitar side to a buffer amp of some sort  like a clean boost pedal 
that drops the impedance and allows you to make up the volume loss. Or an 
active ABY as suggested
