9:00 . Steve Castellano started studying classical piano at age 8,
picked up his first analogue synthesizer at 14, and came to
Toronto to study electronic music and composition at York
University at 17. He has since been involved in a number of
musical pursuits ranging from documentary and computer game
scores to a jazz fusion CD release in the 90s and a brief
appearance as Benny in an Abba tribute band. His modular
compositions combine solid state, vacuum tube and code-based
sources to explore the borders between familiar consonant
harmonic spaces and the chaotic realms where digital
artifacts, found sounds and radio transmissions
fight for control of the ionosphere.

10:00 . Ben Grossman, cheryl o & Barry Prophet perform an
evening of improvisations. Creative flexibility enabled by
texturally rich instrumentation empowered by many decades
of experience will materialize in a series of solo, duo & trio
manifestations. The artists’ performances of acoustic,
electronic & electro-acoustic instruments will take
the audience on experiences that are linear,
nonlinear, spherical, amorphic & more.
