there are a couple of freeware propgrams for download on the net.

one is called mp3box and it also has a cd ripper.

try http://www.hitsquad.com/smm/freeware/95/

they might have something, even if ti is demo.  if you just record a cd
through line in you get a lot of analog artifacts.  a cd ripper just taked 
a
direct data dump; it all stays digital until you listen.
