The loop should >become rebuilt exactly as it was. This is exactly what I do. My bass has a separate output for each string, they run into a Yamaha 03D mixer. The ADAT optical output of the mixer is split by a midiman digipatch, so it can go to two places: a 9600 running mutltrack recording software and a G3 running my own looping stuff. Channels 1-4 are the direct outs of the bass (and any other mics, synths or whatever) and they get recorded dry, along with the MIDI data which controls the looper, so that the loop can be rebuilt with an edit, remixed, etc. Channels 5-8 are the quad looper outputs, and they get recorded into the multitrack as well.
