Only if you leave the guitar plugged in, in the case of the Sustainer 
(can't
speak for the Sustainiac - different company and product).  As I state in 
my
other post, I found out the hard way that the Sustainer will only work if 
you
plug in a cord.  A thoughtful feature accounting for the possibility of the
owner putting away the guitar with the switch still set to "on".

I'll see how long the battery lasts on mine...
