power supplies (cont.)

sorry if this is really ignorant, but what do you guys
mean by "internal power supply". are you talking about
the the 3 male in the back of computers and such? and
why is this so much more effective in neutralizing
hum? is it as simple as a grounding issue, or is there
more to it?
please expound and educate me if ya don't mind!
