this isn't exactly water music, but here it is anyway: i studied a bit with a performance artist named jim pomeroy (aka blind snake) who did a peace called "is there sound in a vacuum?" for part of it, he used a device he had made with two large tubes (~8ft long, ~2inch diameter) placed vertically and connected at the bottom through a water pump. they were open at the top and he had fastened the hoses of two vacuum cleaners to blow across the top. this caused two quite loud sounds that were almost sine waves. then he pumped water slowly from one tube to the other so that one pitch moved up while the other moved down. the interference between them was pretty interesting... all the while he would ask in exagerated mock quandery, "is there sound in a vacuum?"
