I was playing around a little last night and got sort of the character of the sound I was thinking about using a BigMuff into a distorted British amp sim on my DG Stomp, with the tone control on the guitar partly rolled off. I was using a Strat-style guitar with Joe Barden pickups, if that matters (I don't really think so, since the Big Muff tends to homogenize whatever you feed it). I certainly don't sound like Robert Fripp when I play, but the tone at least had enough of the character I was listening for that I recognized it.
