That's why when listening to electronic music, I prefer someone messing about with the sequencer and sound parameters as opposed to just letting the sequence fly in a static look manner. "Variations on a theme" instead of theme, theme, theme, theme, ad infinitum, ad nauseum become ear candy instead of a nuisance.
