I say it depends on "how" you use it to loop or how involved you want to be. I use an ableton/powerbook loaded with a bunch of midi loops running into external sound modules. I do all my "live" looping with my echoplex then. Ableton can be set up to do some nice looping scenarios I found all by itself. I like it better with the computer/echoplex combination. Sort of a backup and then not pushing the computer to its limits. My labtop can do everything I need i to but it still is to unreliable in a live situation for me. I play solo and can't afford any hiccups. That and 4 hours can heat up a laptop nicely, which always made me feel uncomfortable. And finally, no matter how well a computer is set up - they can crash or who knows. I think a computer as a 100% laptop live looping performance tool isn't quite there yet - Unless you are up to speed with the ins and outs of computers themselves :O) On Fri, Mar 31, 2006 at 01:41:50PM +0000, percu rama wrote: > Hi everybody, > I have a (probably foolish) question for you.
