A lot of seasoned laptop guys like Liddell may have some backing loops 
running in tandem with, and synced to, the buffer they are using to loop 
with.  you could pretty easily use a foot switch to open and close the 
buffer or even have it automated and synced to the patch-wide clock.  And 
voila -- no mouse clicks!
