Hi, Rick Walker here,
I"m really excited to announce the Y2K7 INTERNATIONAL LIVE LOOPING
FESTIVAL, will occur in Santa Cruz
this coming weekend (Friday 8 p.m.- 11 p.m., Saturday 1:00-midnight and
Sunday, 1:00 to midnight)
at the Pearl Alley Studios. Held where it has been for the last two
years,
it is in the middle of the building
in the north end of the parking lot that is directly in front of the Pearl
Alley Bistro).
Below is the updated schedule (rev 14.0). Please come join us!!!!
The festival opens up with a bang on Friday evening with headliners Erdem
Helvacioglu (laptop/guitar) from Turkey,
the famous ECM jazz bassist, Arild Andersen from Norway and noted
experimental and eclectic
guitarist Henry Kaiser (from Antarctica---;-) and culminates with an
improvisational trio set
with myself, Henry and Arild. This show begins at 8 p.m.
Then the main festival begins on Saturday and runs both Saturday and
Sunday
from 1:00 p.m. until midnight on
both days. Headliner, Fabio Anile, who was such a hit at the first
pan
European looping festival put on
by Bernhard Wagner will be here all the way from Rome, Italy. Featured
performer Randolf Arriola a wonderful
looping singer-songwriter will be playing after travelling all the way
from
Singapore! Leander Reinginhaus, the guitarist
who organized the 1st Berlin Live Looping Festival as well.
We'll also have an incredible and rare treat: Matthias Grob, inventor
of
the
Echoplex, has just flown in at the last minute from Brazil to perform his
beautiful music for us all.
There will be technology premieres, Bill Walker will be demonstrating
the
Looperlative, the latest, sophisticated hardware looper
and there will be a lot of wonderful discussions in and outside of the
performance space.
About this festival, I can say that after having played in 12 countries
over the course of my musical life in a plethora of very creative
experimental, avant garde, new music, electronica, live looping and world
beat festivals that this is literally, one of the most
creative and eclectic music festivals on the planet.
Our beloved Santa Cruz Mayor, Emily Reilly, will also be on hand to
present
proclamations to the travelling artists declaring
Saturday, October 20th to be "International Live Looping Day" in the City
of
Santa Cruz.
The cost is a mere $10 a concert with no one turned away for lack of funds
and
all ages are welcome. In fact, kids will love how creative this is,
especially during the day concerts.
Please come join us in welcoming these amazing artists from all over the
planet. There's is a great gift to
come so far to play for us.
