Re: qualities of reverb

Hi Luis,

the SDE-330 is a very nice-sounding delay with a lot going for it (I think
the big selling point was it having the 3D algorithms of the fabled RSS
unit). The bad thing is, itīs not very straightforward to use, you can
tweak
more parametres than you would actually want to tweak (but nowhere near as
many as on the Sony DPS-D7, though). Thereīs a lot of stuff that requires
proper reading, and this is what keeps me from using it as a simple delay.
Also, some of the more complex delays and some of the 3D stuff tends to
produce some phase cancellation artefacts which I find slightly unnerving
because thereīs always this type of comb filter effect on the delays.
Sometimes too many options can be a nightmare, especially when you just
want
a stereo delay that is simple to use...

The SRV-330 is a very good-sounding reverb processor with some of the
algorithms of the R-880. Same thing here, you can tweak yourself to death
but the results are generally worth it. Especially the chorused reverb
washes sound very nice. I have both units, the SDE-330 and the SRV-330, in
my live rack.

Stephen
