I had nightmares with the M-Audio Firewire 410 and Emu 1616 cardbus, and 
the 
Edirol UA-5 wasn't so hot, but at least it worked (had a fair amount of 
latency).  I think te Motu and FW400 are your best bets.  You get what you 
pay for, in most cases.
