Re: New virtual guitar amps and effects in GarageBand

I'll second what Per said: it's NOT as flexible as a full-blown DAW, but if you know what you are doing and learn what it can do, it is an amazingly powerful tool. My recent query concerning the use of NI's Kore Player was because I can actually access the Kore player and its' libraries from inside Garage Band and tweak the sounds even further. Those patches are also transportable across machines (if you know where to find them in your operating systems!), as well.

Not too shabby for a freebie, eh?

I pretty much use it all the time for building up tunes, i.e., if I am not recording them straight to disk from the hardware side. This past year I have been expanding my meager setup to allow me to access Garage Band for live performance. Those of you who caught my set on the New Year's Eve electro-music marathon got to hear just that ... I was doing that all with my outboard gear and Garage Band combined.

By all means, Luius, check it out.

Best,

Dennis

GarageBand is not as flexible as a full DAW, but if you know what you
are doing you can produce as good sounding results. Some professionals
start song writing in GarageBand and import the session into Logic for
sweetening and mixing. I've done that and learned that the importing
works out well without problems.
