Hi 

yeah, the Roland Octapad SPD30 seems to be a real alternative to a full 
blown e-drum kit (like drumkat). The guy doing the demos in Youtube is 
really great.

I did a bit testing in a music store and actually liked the Yamaha 
DTX-Multi 12 better. It has softer pads which appeal to my desire to play 
them manually, too.
