I've had ASIO4ALL on a Realtek system and had no trouble.  Seems odd that something has a hold of the audio h/w.  Running XP? Win7?  I'd imagine you've tried this, but... disable system sounds, unload any music players, make sure you have the latest WDM drivers for the Reaktek.  If you aren't even getting Directsound on it, I'd guess it's the WDM drivers that aren't setup right.  But, just guessing and hoping it'll help!

Is anyone else having to wrestle with ASIO like I have been?  I've got a VIA/Realtek-based sound module on the motherboard (and had the same problem with a previous one, different brand), and while Line-In and the Studio-Mix channels are listenable ASIO4ALL states that they're 'in use by another application', implying "MS GS Wavetable Synthesizer enabled?" on its error popup.  Directsound options don't get channelled into an audio-recordable aspect in either FLStudio 9 or Sonar 8.5.  Any suggestions?  Steinberg has a stranglehold on this technology (and is not responding as yet) and I would have figured someone might have written a substitute.
