I gave my EDP to someone, so I can't test this in praxis, but cant you
simply put the EDP in sustained Overdub mode and - while still in
Overdub - use a SUS Substitute pedal on the cycle/loop length?

With Mobius I do it kind of like that, using SUS Substitute (with
Alternative Feedback set to "0") and this replaces everything as long
as I hold down the pedal. Then I pop directly into Overdub mode.
