Y2K-X LOOP FEST: A PLEA for HELP!!!!
Hi everyone,
I am both tremendously excited and overwhelmed with the festival this
year for this reason:
The Y2K-X 10th Anniversary International Live Looping Festival
has had unprecedented interest from artists from 23 countries.
So far, there are 65 artists confirmed from 20 different countries
to perform. This is much larger than any other year and for the first
time ever, I've been forced to close the application process this year
(as much as it pains me as a dedicated Egalitarian)
The number of people heading to Santa Cruz for this wonderful 10th
Anniversary
festival (and the last one that I"m going to produce) is just literally
overwhelming,
logistically speaking.
I'm struggling right now to make sure there are enough performances venues
and, even more importantly, enough places for all the foreign artists
to stay this year.
I can really use this communities' help if you have it to give.
If you can help me to provide any of the following resources, it will
be a great gift
to the festival and to the community and I thank you from the bottom of
my heart.
Specifically, I need:
1) Any and all monetary donations to help with the housing of artists
(who are all coming on their own dime without any compensation at all)
and to, hopefully, pay my all volunteer staff.
2) I would, specifically love to invite Eivind Aarset to come from
Norway and perform
as one of our headlining artists.
He is the only artist that I need to raise significant funds to bring
here.
If I can't raise enough funds for this, the funds for housing and
transportation
will take precedence in my budget for the festival.
I feel that he is such an influential player in the guitar/live looping
realm
in Europe and yet, he has never performed on the west coast of the
United States before
so I think it is culturally important to bring him to this, the largest
live looping festival
in history and expose this community to his work (as well as the West
Coast of the US).
3) I am going to need significant housing for artists.
If you live in the Santa Cruz area and can volunteer to put up a couple
of amazing foreign live looping artists for the
length of the festival, it would be a blessing!
4) I will need people to help transport artists to and from where they
are staying
and also to and from the San Francisco airport on Tuesday, October 12th
and
Tuesday, October 19th.
If you feel like you have the energy or resources to help us out with
any of these specific things, would you
Please contact me off list at Rick Walker looppool@cruzio.com
That is also my paypal account if you can donate funds for the festival.
Please put Y2K-X: I CAN HELP in capital letters in the subject
line if
you feel like you can help out in any way, shape or form so that my Junk
filter doesn't grab it, accidentally.
Thank you and bless this wonderful community!
yours, Rick Walker
