Re: Mobius in a rack unit

Rainer,

You piqued my curiosity too....I know Jeff is way overloaded, but is Mobius open source? That would be a fun project to do in my spare time (if I had any......)

Thanks,
Eric

The idea I was toying with here was not to build a full-blown PC into a rack (with desktop OS and all), but rather to go the embedded system route, more specifically to use a device (like the one mentioned) which brings all the required peripherals with it and is centered around a FPGA, as I believe the way something like a looper works lends itself to being realized on such a platform (parallel processing, state machine structure,...).

With a structure like that, there's no need to boot/load the program (i.e. it would startup right after power is supplied), realtime behaviour would be easy to guarantee, and the risk of system crashes would be much smaller.

So the idea was to have Möbius in a device which doesn't have all of the negative aspects usually associated with computers.
