Great Todd, I was wondering how that worked out for you.  Glad I could 
help.

I also recently made a controller with the Highly Liquid midi cpu.
It's sort of based on a guitar:

Of course, it's just a bunch of buttons and the really challenging
part is on the software side of things, which is still in development
(bidule patch, max/msp patch and/or mobius script).  Right now I'm
using pre-recorded samples, but ultimately I want to sample live.
