another mobius question

i'm currently using this method to create "rechian" loops

record onto track 1
copy track 1 onto track 2 and pan track 1 left and track 2 right
run a sequencer in bidule to send a midi note once per cycle to cause track 2 to slip forward by one 8ths per cycle

if 8ths per cycle is set to 16, then you get some nice rhythmic variations. if it's set to 127, then you get a gradual slippage (more like steve reich stuff)

i'm thinking this is a bit flaky though and a more elegant solution (to me) would be to actually chop a chunk off the end of loop 2 to make it shorter. the result will sound the same (although loop 2 will be moving backwards relative to loop 1, instead of forwards, but adding a chunk to the end of loop 2 will create a small chunk of silence)

is there a way to to this with a script? can you delete a piece off the end of a loop that's one 8ths per cycle long?
