Yeah, Mark, if you get creative, the 1202 really has a lot of routing options using the control room out. Remember that your tape outs can also be converted to a separate mains out channel as well, though it's unconventional to use it that way. I've just burned out the first two channels completely on my 1402 (it went to 15 different countries with me and took a LOT of abuse) so I'm down to 4 mic pres and it's just a matter of time before it gives up the ghost. Have you looked into the DTar Soulstice that Bill and I both use? It has two really high quality mic pres replete with insert sends and a separate effects loop. I'm not sure how many channels you use, but it's also got a really small footprint. The only possible trouble is that it only has the two ins, though you can hook both a mic and a line input into the same channel as I frequently do. I finally quit using my beloved Mackie when I tour because it's just too bulky and heavy. Right now, I'm carting my Mackie 1604 around with me if I have time to set up and an automobile for transport and I use my DTar if I'm flying anywhere. It has routing out the wazoo despite being large and bulky. 4 aux sends is Heaven!!!!
