Well, I spent a *lot* of time sussing out the Alesis circuitry. The Rane circuitry is arranged differently around the area where I'd hack an insert into the Alesis, it certainly doesn't offer the exact same simple fix. (here's the tech speak) I would use the Expand Out socket as an insert send. Then I'd sever the connection where the main bus goes to the main volume control. The Expand In socket would be used for the Insert Return, it goes to a simple buffer circuit the output of which would be re-routed to the main vol control. Without an fx (or patch lead )inserted the mixer wouldn't function at all. Note, the expand In/Out sockets are on single TRS jacks for a stereo signal. You could always get a quote to have the mod done on the Rane, as Rane have the schematic available online. andy > > Thanks. > Mark > >
