Re: Soft Step - any software issues?

Im glad to hear that the software looks like it is being ironed out... I knda guessed that it would be. I however was not happy with the feel of the switches and finally sent  mine back. I was surprised to find that I actually NEED a little click. I was getting misfires the whole time.. In Todds video however, he seems to have some light and responsive touch that I NEVER got on mine. Maybe I actually had a dodgy bit of hardware too?

I think its a very cool pedal, but was Waaaaaaaaaaaay too fussy for me... I need "stompability"

The zeppelin cover I just did with the softstep was in 'standalone mode' so it was only connected with a midi cable to my audio interface in my rig...... so it does not have to be connected to a computer. You use the computer to downoad your preset 'scenes' and then you can unplug the softstep and plug it in to anything that accepts midi. It does need power though so as long as you can busk with a power strip your fine. You have to purchase the midi expander as well as the softstep though if you want this functionality.

FRO - As of the past 3 days with their latest beta updte, I have had no issues looping at all with the softstep. There are a few issues with the led lights but their tech support said they have already ironed those out with the next update (official update to this beta) coming this week. It's has a really small footprint so in that sense it will be great for travel. The footswitches are way different though than anything I had tried before so its something you can practice and learn to adapt to or hate it because it's not what your used to....  They have a 30 day return policy so I think it's worth trying it out. I love it now personally.

Fro, for what its worth, I talked to them at namm and they said all those issues are ironed out, but you know what else they gonna say. Pretty sure it has to have a computer to run so busking?

howdy loopies,

i was just about to purchase the soft step through amazon for my "busking" rig, but noticed these 2 reviews, both within the last 2 weeks-

The Max5 based software still a little buggy (as of Jan-2011, V.1.03) and could be better, and hopefully will be soon if the quality of the pedal is any indication.

and......

A little buggy? Absolutely unusable software. Tons of time getting presets established, you go to a different scene and then come back, and many of your presets are screwed up. Names have changed, presets for one pedal are suddenly showing up in a different pedal, parameters are changed.

Wow. Unless they've got a fix in the next 24hrs this thing is going back.

What a shame, because the thing had such amazing promise.

Completely unreliable, though. God forbid you get those horrid preset changes during a gig...

i hadnt heard of any issues, but maybe i overlooked a massive thread- anyone having similar problemos or is everything groovy?
