Trigger random percussion instruments with an acoustic instrument, via  
audio to midi converter, loop the percussion and create your own Han  
Bennink'esque/ interactive accompaniment.  Adjustments to pitch range,  
velocity sensitivity, etc. can fine tuned to effect how/ when the  
samples respond, though I prefer the more random interaction.  Really  
neat with with tuned percussion (gamelan, hang drum etc) = pitch bent  
percussion......
