Got no opinion of my own from hands-on experience but I had a good
impression of this device from discussions at the Stick forum, where
some guys use it. For a stickist it offers two parallel audio inputs
with individual processing of both fretboards, which is hard to find.
the HD500 is also said to offer great sounding tone and effects and I
have no reason for not believing that since Line 6 has made well
sounding units in the past (I was an early adopter of the Pod 1 here).

If for some reasons computers would not be allowed I would look
closely at the HD500 ;-)
(very comfy here with MBP + RME FF400 and will stay with that)
