From experience with the H2, the foam windshield supplied
is pretty good. (It's just a regular cheap mic windshield ifyou didn't get anything with the H4) Plus getting the mic in a sheltered position, or even shielding it with your body can help a lot.
Rather than socks, stockings or tights are better acoustically if you want to build something more elaborate. What insects are you after? andy ps http://www.ct-collective.com/index.cfm?page=music&albumid=35 mine's the last track Shayne Cafferata wrote:
i'm going to set up my h4 in a field today and record the insects. it's a little breezy and i'll for sure need a windscreen. any home-cooked recipes for something effective? it'll be down in the grass, so it'll be a little protected. i'm thinking of a stretchy sock, but i'll need a framework to keep a dead air space between it and the built-in mics.
