I totally understand that! This was a main reason I expanded into Stick playing; being free to play rubato while still doing two or three musical parts simultaneously. Looking back from this new position I can tell that I also love the machine-like and exact timing you can achieve with looping - but to my taste this repetitiveness becomes even cooler if combined with free rubato parts.
