I"ve subscribed to the facebook group and I get notified by email when
someone posts there.  Gmail puts nice labels and keeps these posts
together with the regular LD stuff, so for me there's no distinction
between the two.  It all comes to my inbox and gets organized by
gmail.  I answer facebook and mailing list in gmail...  It comes down
to what people want to use to communicate (mailing list or facebook),
I'll listen either way.  Couple issues that comes to mind:

1- The cross-posting is annoying
2- message archiving is no longer controlled by someone from the community
3- LD archive shows up in google searches and anyone can access the
messages without signing up... compare and contrast with facebook
