I'm kind of thinking it doesn't make any sense to have a Release phase on a stomp box. When the note end was detected there wouldn't be any sound to fill the release period.
There's the TC Triple-C, which in envelope mode does the following:Parameters are Threshold, Attack Gain, Attack Time, Release Time and Release Gain.
It works like this:If the input signal rises above threshold, then in a time of 0.1ms (fixed) it is amplified up to the attack gain. Then, the gain falls back to unity for the duration of attack time. Then, nothing happens until the signal falls below threshold, when during the release time, the gain falls to release gain.
In standard synth ADSR terminology, it would translate somehow to. A=0.1ms (the fixed attack time) D=Attack Time S=-Attack Gain R=Release Time (somehow like this). It's a truly fun effect, especially to completely whack up tracks with percussive stuff. (The Triple-C stereo version was so much fun in fact, that TC quickly wrote a document explaining why the much more expensive Finalizer was better, and then quickly discontinued the Triple-C ;).
