When using any third-party plugin hosted in Live there are three ways external MIDI control surface gear can talk to the plugin: 1) As MIDI Track Input through Live (activate/deactivate in Live's Preferences, MIDI/Sync tab). 2) As Remote control through Live (activate/deactivate in Live's Preferences, MIDI/Sync tab). 3) Third-party plugin set to listen directly to the system's MIDI Port. The issue with the looper killing itself on Record is typical when more than one of the above control systems are active (as Jeff explained). I have tried all three for looper plugins and with Mobius I stick to "3". Not because it is better but because it makes my jumping between many alternative host applications very smooth. "1" is also easy once you have set the MIDI bindings in Mobius. In order to make "2" work with Mobius one needs to first go into Mobius and chose which parameters the plugin shall expose to the host and then use Ableton's internal system (VST or AU protocol) to set up the mapping in Live. The "Abes" recommend this method.
