I see some wisdom in that.

I've seen really talented young drummers playing in what they thought was a West African paradigm who just would never pass muster in an authentic setting because they just hadn't
done enough homework,
but then again, there are people who just jump boldly out without ever learning the rules......they do some
cool shit, too.

...I think you'll be hard pressed
