It depends a lot on what you define as "nice". Instrument makers typically tell you that you should tune above the resonances for a nicer sound - go figure *. Furthermore, the resonances are where the instrument maker makes them to be - so again, no nature-given law, but human design.

*: the reason for that in system design is that you can tune (sic!) the system behaviour in a more stable fashion.
