Re: OT: In praise of Mainstage

The big one is that its really sensitive to midi input at startup. You tend to get an error message regarding midi driver conflicts. The easy solution is to power up your interface after starting Mainstage. Also, if you ask it to do too much at once, it can freeze up. This has more to with virtual instruments then audio in. Also, once your patches are setup, it runs very smoothly. Most trouble with mainstage stems from Virtual Instruments, Synths, samplers etc. It handles audio in very easily.

i keep hearing this "buggy" thing...

can anyone give specifics? i've been considering it for my stage setup, but that "buggy" word frightens me.
or, is this info up at apple discussions somewhere?

I use both Live and Mainstage. The former is inferior in regards to sound quality, but has a lot of advantages. Mainstage is still buggy, but it is in its infancy. I'm sure as we go, it will improve.
