I never had a problem with this, even cheap equipment has symmetric 
inputs which should be fine. If you still would hear crosstalk (I never 
did in my life), throw in a DI-box to match impedances...

Btw, the pin numbers I mentioned in my post for the Midi plug had been 
wrong, the hot pins are as Andy said 4 and 5, which are neither the 
center nor the edges. Polarity doesn't matter, as Midi is opto coupled...
