I can certainly see the benefits of a firewire interface, sure. The polyphonic kit that you mentioned seems the more affordable option for the moment. This might interest you; There's a guy by the name of Enda Bates in Dublin working toward a doctorate in composition for polyphonic guitar. He put together his own break out box.
